REMEDIATION AND WASTE MINIMIZATION Services to waste remediation contractors, scrap processors and individual clients focus on heavy metal treatment for waste streams (contaminated soil, auto-shredder residue, sludges, filter cakes, mining wastes, bottom and fly ash, marine sediments). The service consists of the following: Characterization of material stream for heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, zinc, chromium, arsenic, nickel, copper, etc. Bench scale treatability studies establishing most cost effective treatment modality Process scale-up for mobile on-site treatment or integration into treatment plant Evaluation of disposal or re-use alternatives Overall process evaluation to determine if modifications could minimize or eliminate waste stream requiring treatment Typical technologies include polysilicate and cementitious materials; silicates with selected additives and cementitious materials; and soluble phosphates, phosphation.
